Why study this course

Have you ever been in a conversation where there were high stakes, varied opinions and strong emotions and it didn’t go as well as you had hoped? Alternatively, do you just want to be more effective at having challenging conversations? If either of these apply to you, this course provides a valuable opportunity to overcome fear and have an effectual conversation that leaves both parties feeling satisfied and respected, regardless of the outcome.

In this session, we work with the intent, preparation, content and delivery of the message for the conversation. Participants will have their thinking challenged to create a generous intention for having a conversation and feel equipped and prepared to tackle challenges head on. Understanding the key principles of negotiation and how this may apply to SOS conversations, is something the participant will engage in throughout the course.

We will cover how people use their bodies to support their message and the powerful questions we can ask to ensure both parties walk away feeling content with how the conversation went.

Through experiential learning techniques and peer feedback, participants will go back to their organisations with practical and practiced skills to have an SOS conversation. This environment provides the opportunity to workshop a conversation in a simulated and safe setting for maximum value.

This course is appealing to aspiring, emerging and current leaders, business owners, salespeople, volunteers and teammates who want to be masterful in ensuring challenging conversations go well. There is an optional qualification upgrade available.

This course is often delivered in two half-days instead of one full day.
