FAQs

TOGAF, which stands for The Open Group Architecture Framework, is a widely used framework for enterprise architecture. It provides a comprehensive approach for designing, planning, implementing, and governing an enterprise information technology architecture.

TOGAF is structured around four key domains:

  1. Business Architecture - Defines the business strategy, governance, organisation, and key business processes.

  2. Application Architecture - Provides a blueprint for the individual application systems to be deployed and their interactions and relationships to the core business processes.

  3. Data Architecture - Describes the structure of an organisation's logical and physical data assets and data management resources.

  4. Technology Architecture - Details the hardware, software, and network infrastructure needed to support the deployment of core, mission-critical applications.

The core of TOGAF is the Architecture Development Method (ADM), which guides the development and management of enterprise architecture throughout its lifecycle. Learn more about the TOGAF framework here.

Having TOGAF Certification is an outstanding career move, with the certification providing a clear path for professional development in the enterprise architecture discipline and is often a mandatory requirement for architecture roles in many organisations around the world.

Earning a TOGAF certification verifies that you can speak the common language of enterprise. It could offer benefits that include increased opportunities for projects, jobs and consultancies. Read more here.

TOGAF Certification is for anyone involved in the development and application of architecture, and is useful to anyone involved in business transformations and capability improvements. This includes Business, Enterprise, Solution, and IT Architects; Business and Systems Analysts; as well as Business Executives and Managers; Programme, Project, and Change Managers; and IT Consultants.

To become certified in TOGAF, you need to pass the relevant exams. The most effective way to pass the TOGAF exam and become certified in TOGAF is to attend a TOGAF training course that is accredited by The Open Group. Lumify Work's TOGAF training courses are fully accredited by The Open Group.

The duration of certification is indefinite – certification is to a given version of the Body of Knowledge and does not expire, so there are no re-certification or renewal requirements.

Exams can be booked via Pearson VUE. All you need to do is log in to create or access your account at The Open Group and register for an exam. All Lumify Work TOGAF training courses include a voucher for the relevant TOGAF exam.

Yes, you can. Most TOGAF exams are available to be taken via online proctoring. See here for details.

No, the certification policy has a minimum period before you can retake a TOGAF exam. This is currently one month. If you retake the exam before that period your test result will be void.

TOGAF Exams

To comply with the requirements of The Open Group, author of the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture framework, Lumify Work cannot provide TOGAF training courses without the corresponding official exam.
