Students often ask whether coding is required to undertake ServiceNow courses. Coding may not be necessary for most day-to-day tasks if you work as a ServiceNow Administrator or a similar role. ServiceNow offers many low-code/no-code tools for creating workflows and automating processes.

For courses like ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals (SNAF), you must be familiar with ServiceNow platform basics, terminology, and how to navigate around in the system before beginning System Administration Fundamentals.

Prerequisites for other courses vary from none to 6 months to 1 year of ServiceNow experience, to having some basic familiarity with JavaScript.

Another frequently asked question is whether a non-IT person can learn ServiceNow. Members of the ServiceNow community share that people without technical backgrounds can learn it and join the training. It is recommended that you start by familiarising yourself with web applications in general.

In terms of how long it may take to learn ServiceNow, community members say that learning the basics of the platform may take 3 months. This is for someone with a technical background and experience in IT or related fields.
